"breathe" "exhale"-- such a simple antidote to the bottled up brainwaves
and on-the-verge tears, threatening to spill over
down cheeks and round into puckered lips.

an uphill battle with the silence of the mind, of the spaces
void of wet ink, of the constricting palpitations straining your aorta.

the dust from the pages that fills your lungs, all nostalgia
and loneliness, fear and flattery: the past.

the words-- they incriminate you, lock you into a time period
of loss, of hopelessness, of thinking of tomorrow.

and now that you've seen tomorrows, plenty of them, gone and went,
you still find a speechless tongue, writhing with dry taste buds
