New Journal Boxes!/More Featuring Space!

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 16, 2008, 2:33 PM

  • Drinking: Water
Phew! With the help of *Death-By-Romance, I was able to get these scroll boxes onto my journal so that I could post all kinds of information!

I graduated from high school this past Sunday, so I'm officially a college freshman! :D I can't really believe it, and it hasn't hit me yet that I'll be moving to NEW YORK in August (!), but I'm sure it will as the date approaches.

So, summer is here for me, and I'll be writing more soon. I'm actually planning on organizing a lot of my journals and whatnot tonight. I need to work on my portfolio soon, too!

Anyone have any fun plans for this weekend? I always like comments! :)

EDIT;
PLEASE read the edit in the 'Even more features!' box- there is now a time limit on how long I'll be accepting those entries.

Six Word Story Contest

Judges: *mode-de-vie, *Death-By-Romance

"For sale: baby shoes, never worn."
-Ernest Hemingway

About the Contest
Ernest Hemingway was bet by his friends that he could not write a six word story. This is what he came up with. He was paid by his friends $10, we are offering SO MUCH MORE!

We judges are challenging you all to come up with a six word story as well, but since you will be getting a lot more than Hemingway did, we also ask that you illustrate the story as well somehow.

Now, these illustrations can be anything- they can be photographs, vectors, paintings, sculptures, you name it. There cannot be any extra words of any sort in the illustration itself unless they are the words of the story. There must only be one illustration.

This is the perfect chance for you guys to show off your skills across different mediums.

How to Deviate
The contest entries should be submitted under literature. You should click the "Add Text" button to put the six word story in. For the illustration, once you have added the story a preview option shows up. That is how you should put in the illustration, not in a separate deviation because this is supposed to be one complete work of art. Make sure you note at least one of the judges, *mode-de-vie and *Death-By-Romance, a link to the deviation. *Please do not leave a comment with a link on our page or in the News article (these may be overlooked).

Caution!
Many famous writers and other celebrities have tried to write these stories but most of the time they forget that it is supposed to be... well... a story. Not everything has to be explicitly said in the story, and it might be interpreted in many different ways. I interpret Hemingway's as a woman had a still born child therefore they sold the shoes. It could be taken many different ways, but that is a full story, not just a simple statement.

Contest Starts Wednesday, June 5, 2008 12:00 AM (0:00)
Contest Ends Friday, July 4, 2008 11:59 PM (23:59)

Rules Quick List
-Six word story (ONLY SIX, you will be disqualified if it's over... though we still may comment and favorite)
-One illustration
-Same Deviation
-One entry per person

Prizes
First place: 3 month subscription, 1 month feature in both judges journals
Second place: 1 month subscription, 1 month feature in both judges journals
Third place: 1 month feature in both judges journals

Important note:
If you plan on submitting or supporting the contest, please go on over to the news article, found here: [link] and favorite it, this way, it stays high up on the news page. Also, feel free to link the contest in your own journal if you'd like.

There is also a news article with a contest update, found here: [link]

GOOD LUCK!

Even more Features!

A new forum thread has come out with my name attached to it, offering deviants the chance to submit their work for possible features.

Here's a basic rundown of the rules:
- Only THREE deviations can be posted by each deviant
- Those THREE must be: your first deviation, your latest deviation, and one of your favorite deviations
- If your posted deviations do not comply to the above rule, you will not be featured
- All the art will be commented on
- Favorites and watches will be given out based on whether I like your artwork/gallery
- Specific deviants that I choose will be featured in my journal for a week
- All art types are welcome

I will note you if and when your work is featured here.

If you'd like to submit, head on over to the thread found here: [link] PLEASE do not post links in this journal or on my userpage! All submissions must be made on the forum.

EDIT;
All submissions to this forum thread made after Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 11:59 PM (23:59) will not be considered. I cannot keep the thread running for that long and will start featuring people after that. Sorry about not mentioning that before in the thread!

Part of growing up was learning not to be quite that honest- learning when it was better to lie; rather than hurt someone with the truth.
Thanks, these boxes took so much effort to get right!

That'll be fun. I have a bunch of graduation parties to go to. :)

I'll note you back tonight!

The scroll boxes look great! I like how they make everything more compact.

Congratulations on graduating! That's great news! :highfive:

I don't have any solid plans for the weekend myself, but I hope you enjoy yours! :rose:
