Believe in a Big Picture. by =mode-de-vie:iconmode-de-vie:

A beat up Volkswagon on an
   open highway that stretches
      for 5,000 miles
Windows down, radio maxed,
   barefeet on the dash, wind
      in their hair
A loose grip on the wheel,
   control left to emotion and
      a pale pink sunset
Six seperate voices, all
   singing to different tunes
White lines skimming the
   rims of battered tires, each
      piece of road portraying
         the journey
Suitcases piled in the back with
   barely any items inside
Easy living.
A joint passed back and forth,
   saliva shared and breaths
      inhaled, smoke filling
         clean lungs
Euphoria in a blank painted
   portrait of a gentle
      horizon line
Green and white signs that
   read 'California'
A guardrail that can't fence
   anything in
Shared dreams
   communicated with
      impulse, hoped to
         be achieved with
            the sheer bit of
               luck
Waking up tomorrow
   to just keep going.
A new sun, a new day.

Inspiration: A ripped Keds ad from Teen Vogue magazine.

I do not promote the use of drugs in any way. They're bad for you, got it?

I love it. Very creative. =]

And, drugs? Definitely bad.

Part of growing up was learning not to be quite that honest- learning when it was better to lie; rather than hurt someone with the truth.
Glad you agree. :D And that you liked it!

This is great. Yeah... drugs are bad. I'm very glad you added that disclaimer, but sometimes if that's the image you have you have to write it. It's part of the art, and sadly has become part of our culture. Though I'm not going to rant about that here.
This is very pretty, very loose. I feel like you are trying to portray your eminent freedom. Whether you know it or not. Mark Doty in "Souls on Ice" says that, "Our metaphors go on ahead of us." I believe this is your fortune cookie Sara. You wrote it. You brain knew to write in a metaphor about the freedom you shall soon have. Get ready. Have fun. Good Luck.-Steve

Nice poem. I love how you can feel how easy going these people are, and the aesthetic lends to that a nice flow that complements the poem.

I still kinda remember what it was like to be that hopeful and carefree...

I love this poem.
So free and hopeful.
And what an interesting piece of inspiration.
